Church group offers women lunchtime solutions

By Bridget Brady
WOMEN in need of a friend are invited to attend a friendship lunch at a Cranbourne church this month.
Cranbourne Freedom Christian Church will host the lunch on 21 March for women who may be lonely, depressed or need someone to talk to.
Pastor Jenny Amoruso said the day was organised because she and other female members of the church felt there were lots of women in the Cranbourne area who needed a friend.
“I have been aware that there are a lot of women out there that are depressed or stressed and could do with a friend,” she said.
“We want to reach out to women who are lonely and just need someone to talk to.”
Pastor Amoruso said the lunch was an opportunity for women in the community to get together in a relaxed environment and meet friends and chat.
“It is an opportunity not only to make friends but for us to speak to women about what we have on offer at the church in terms of mothers and craft groups, and see if they find their place in something.
“We are not necessarily going to solve problems, but they may go away thinking, ‘I’m not alone’.”
This is the first time the church has organised an event like this, and they hope to make it a regular occurrence if the lunch proves a success.
There will be guest speakers, music and prizes available on the day.
Cost is $10 and $6 for concession. Child care is available. To book call the church on 5995 2005.
