Back flip boys

CAM Sinclair can do what no other person in Australia can – a double back flip on a motorcycle. And the Crusty Demons star calls Cranbourne South home.
Mr Sinclair, 24, this week showed why he is one of the most celebrated freestyle motocross riders in the world when he practised in Baxter on Monday for an upcoming event this weekend.
Mr Sinclair landed the double back flip in December, and is also the world record holder for the longest distance motorcycle back flip.
While Mr Sinclair, originally from Pearcedale, did not attempt the famous double back flip on Monday, he and fellow Crusty Demons star Blake Williams performed some of their new stunts in preparation for the Fox Mini SX Open in Frankston this weekend.
“It was a good feeling when I did it (double back flip) for the first time in December,” Mr Sinclair said. “It is one of the craziest tricks out there.”
Mr Sinclair is the first Australian to do the trick and the third person in the world to pull it off. He is the only person in the world that does the trick at the moment, he says.
“I practised for six months almost every day in the foam pit. I have done it nine times since December. It’s a scary trick and I just do it at the big shows.”
Mr Sinclair said mental strength was one of the most important criteria to successfully complete the trick.
Convincing his family and friends that he was not going to kill himself during the trick was another tricky factor, he said. Mr Sinclair started riding when he was five years old. He has not had the opportunity to come home very often since he started touring with Crusty Demons four years ago. “But I love being home and there is nothing better than driving up the driveway when I do get the chance to come home.”
Mr Sinclair and Mr Williams will perform at the Fox Mini SX Open on 14 March at the Frankston BMX track Old Wells Road from noon.
