Tooradin kids clean up

STUDENTS at Tooradin Primary School got their hands dirty in an effort to clean-up Australia.
The National Clean Up Australia Day was on Saturday 1 March but students from Prep to Grade 6 got a head start as they picked up rubbish at school and at Sawtell’s Inlet on Friday.
“Our focus was on picking up as much litter as we could and recycling what we found to minimise waste in landfill,” sustainability co-ordinator Kristie Young said.
“The children were surprised by how much litter they found around the inlet and had to get an extra bin to compensate for all of the extra rubbish they had found.”
Ms Young said the students loved contributing to the community by cleaning up litter, planting trees, and monitoring the water quality in the area.
