Kids celebrate multi-culture

STUDENTS at Hampton Park Primary School are preparing for their school’s fortnight of multicultural celebrations.
English as a Second Language (ESL) students and grade three to six students have been busy creating a photographic exhibition representing their stories from around the world, and what multiculturalism means to each of them.
The school received a $1320 grant from the Victorian Multicultural Commission and $800 from the City of Casey to support activities during the fortnight that begins on 23 March.
The school will use this money for entertainment and an array of activities, including a Polynesian workshop on 2 April, the final day of the multicultural fortnight.
A night of “cultural infusion” will be held at the school on 25 March from 5pm to 7pm.
Humanities co-ordinator Jennifer Norman said it was an opportunity for the community to come together and share their cultural foods and be entertained by students and their families.
