STUDENTS at Tooradin Primary School were cooking up a storm on Shrove Tuesday.
They worked together to mix and flip dozens of pancakes, before using the tasty treats to learn.
“Most of the teachers used the occasion as a learning experience,” Prep teacher Rachel Davis said.
“The older children were given information to read and interpret, and they needed to do that correctly or their pancakes wouldn’t turn out.
“The younger children were also reading and measuring, so numeracy and literacy played a big part in the process.”
This was the first year that students from all ten grades made pancakes, and Ms Davis said they were ecstatic to be involved.
“They kept licking their lips and chomping their chomps,” she said.
“I think the absolutely favourite part of the day is when they got to eat them!”
