WORK has started on strengthening three bridges on Ballarto Road in Clyde.
Traffic on the bridges will be reduced to one lane for the duration of the works, expected to be finished by June.
Cranbourne MP Jude Perera said the $1,333,000 upgrades would take place on Ballarto Road over Clyde Creek, Toomuc Drain and Gum Scrub Drain.
“Ballarto Road is an important link for communities within the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire,” he said.
“The works are necessary to maintain the use and safety of the bridges and cater for expected increases in traffic volumes in the future.”
The bridges will be strengthened, the bridge barriers upgraded and guardrails on all approaches to the bridges will be installed.
“The traffic flow will be controlled by temporary traffic signals on site and reduced speed limits will apply,” Mr Perera said.
