Speeders copped

A NARRE Warren woman and a Cranbourne man were among four motorists who sped past a senior police officer near the Latrobe Valley last month.
Assistant Commissioner Steve Fontana said he was shocked and disappointed when the motorists overtook him along the Princes Freeway on 31 January when he was in an unmarked police vehicle.
Their speeds ranged from 140 km/h to 135km/h in the 110km/h zone.
A 20-year-old female probationary driver from Narre Warren and a 29-year-old Cranbourne man were both detected speeding and received penalty notices and had their licences suspended.
Assistant Commissioner Fontana said he was appalled that the drivers were prepared to risk their own safety and that of other road users.
“Drivers need to be aware that any car is potentially a police vehicle that can apprehend careless and reckless drivers,” he said.
