Paging booklovers

By Bridget Brady
CHEAP books and plenty of them will be the order of the day at the Friends of the Cranbourne Library’s book sale this weekend.
Books ranging from 50 cents to $5 will be for sale this Saturday at the Cranbourne Library, and all profits go back to the library.
The secretary of the Friends of the Cranbourne Library group, Helen Crago, said the book sale was an excellent opportunity for residents to pick up some cheap books, CDs and DVDs.
“Cranbourne is growing and there are a lot of young families so this is a good way to encourage kids to read,” Mrs Crago said.
“And books can be expensive so we encourage people to do it cheaply and come and get a whole pile of books for the kids.”
Members of the volunteer group organise two book sales at the library each year.
Most of the books for sale had been withdrawn from the library, Mrs Crago said.
“Some of the books are taken off the shelves if they were not borrowed as much as anticipated, and still look brand new.
“We usually have people queuing up in the morning so it’s always very successful.”
The book sale will be held at the library’s conference and community rooms from 8.30am to 2pm.
