ORIENTATION for preps has prepared hundreds of children for their first day of school.
Ninety-five preps started at Cranbourne West Primary School yesterday (Wednesday) and prep teacher Robyn Bailey said orientation was essential in helping students make the transition to school.
“Orientation is extremely important, and I can definitely notice the difference in students who attended it last year and those who didn’t,” she said.
“It makes students more familiar with their surroundings and more comfortable when they come to their first day of class.”
Prep teacher Sally Weber said the 37 preps, including two sets of identical twins, at Devon Meadows Primary School were well prepared when they entered the classroom on Monday due to the orientation last year.
“They participated in a music session, library session, classroom session and sports session last year so it gave them a lot more confidence when they came to school on Monday,” she said. “They knew what to expect.”
Ms Weber said she was pleased with the students’ confidence as well as their ability to tell the twins apart.
“The kids are doing so well,” she said. “We have had twins here in the past, and a lot of students can work them out before me!”
