CRANBOURNE residents have opened their wallets and given generously to the Salvation Army’s bushfire relief appeal.
Members of the Cranbourne Salvation Army have been rattling tins at Centro Shopping Centre, collecting money for the appeal.
Hennie Watts from the Cranbourne Salvation Army said they were only interested in cash donations.
“We need money. We don’t want to end up with bags of clothes. Logistically we can’t move them,” Ms Watts said.
She reminded residents that the Cranbourne Salvation Army was not a major store, and they had no resources to deliver clothes or furniture.
“If people want to donate clothes they need to go to the bigger stores in Hampton Park and Dandenong.
“But the resounding message is that money is what people need because they need stuff and only they know what stuff they need.”
Ms Watts said counselling facilities were available for people who needed them at the Cranbourne store.
The Cranbourne Salvation Army will be at the Centro Shopping Centre in Cranbourne all week.
