Keeping gardens green

THE Royal Botanic Gardens will hold a workshop and tour to show home gardeners how to protect their gardens from drought.
The session will be held in the Australian Garden, which is home to many drought-proof plants.
Horticulture manager at the gardens John Arnott said there were 15 different landscapes and gardens visitors could learn from.
“It is a great place to come and learn about how to use Australian plants at home, as well as how to maintain a garden during the summer months.”
The workshops will include discussing how to choose the best plants and positioning them properly, and efficient watering systems.
“The workshop is good for people who lose plants during summer and would like to make their garden beautiful through the dry periods.”
The workshop will be held on 12 February from 11.30am to 12.30pm. Cost is $7.50 for adults and $6.50 for children. For bookings call 5990 2245.
