Hampton Park powerless

MORE than 5000 Hampton Park residents were left without power on Friday after the area was affected by load shedding.
Power supplier SP AusNet said customers in parts of Narre Warren South and Cranbourne were also affected by two lots of rotational load shedding during Friday’s scorching weather, as directed by the National Electricity Market Management Company (NEMMCO).
SP AusNet spokesperson Natasha Whalley said the first case of load shedding on Friday occurred from 3pm to 4pm. The second, affecting about 4,995 customers in Hampton Park, Lyndhurst and Cranbourne, happened from 4pm to 4.10pm, Ms Whalley said.
“Load shedding occurs when the network can’t sustain the load and it is necessary to interrupt the supply to certain areas.”
Residents in Hampton Park and Clyde North were also among 2000 SPAusNet customers who were without power the night before, Thursday 29 January, from 6pm.
“More than 100 SP AusNet field crew members were working hard to restore power to most of these customers by about 7pm with the remainder by 9.30pm (on Thursday).
“We’re always concerned when power is interrupted and would like to thank everyone for their patience while our crews carried out repairs as quickly as they could in extreme weather conditions.”
