Search a model way to go

– Lia Bichel
THE winners of the QV Face Cosmopolitan Model Search final at Centro Cranbourne were crowned last week.
Eighteen-year-old Skye resident Courtni Cincotta shared the top spot with Jessica Biermann, 19, from Cranbourne, and Luljeta Pacarada, 21, from Dandenong, and will advance to the Melbourne grand final in November.
Ms Cincotta said she entered the competition on a whim, after seeing a flyer advertising the event.
“My sister who lives in Cranbourne gave the flyer to my mum and my mum forgot to tell me about it,” she said.
“I found the flyer at home on registration day and thought it sounded like something I should try.”
Ms Cincotta said she did not have previous modelling experience but felt comfortable strutting on the catwalk in front of a crowd.
“I have done a lot of acting. I have been in school plays at Cranbourne Secondary College and came runner-up for a part in Neighbours,” she said, “so I wasn’t nervous.”
Ms Cincotta said she planned to attend modelling courses throughout the year to help her prepare for the grand final, in which the winner has a chance to receive an international modelling contract with some of the world’s most respected and renowned agencies such as IMG in New York, Cal Carries Hong Kong, Ice Milano and Elite South East Asia.
Cosmopolitan’s National Events co-ordinator Carly Allen said she was pleased with the Cranbourne event and impressed with all of the contestants.
