POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault after a man suffered a broken jaw and nose at Hampton Park on the weekend.
The man, in his 40s, had been drinking at the sports bar at the Hampton Park Tavern when security guards asked him to leave, police said.
As the man left the venue, two patrons who had also been inside the sports bar followed him outside. One of the men punched the victim in the face as they walked past, and the victim fell to the ground, police said.
The offender continued to walk away from the bar and police believe he got into a blue car.
The victim suffered a broken jaw and nose and was transported to The Alfred in a stable condition.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
