COLD Rock is in town, and the locals are enjoying it.
The ice-cream chain opened its doors in Cranbourne on 11 January, and the store managers said the response from the public has been amazing.
Co-manager Jonathan Lee, 23, said Cold Rock, famous for its array of mix ins, had been very popular since it opened.
“The response has been far beyond our expectations. It’s a tribute to the people in the area how fast the word has spread that we are here,” Mr Lee said. Co-manager Tony Carfi, 50, said he and his partner, Pauline, decided to open the store in Cranbourne after learning of its huge growth potential. Along with Mr Lee, they also manage stores in Wantirna and Mornington.
“Part of our business strategy was to look for a growing area and we took a lot of time finding the right location,” Mr Carfi said.
He said he had employed 10 local teenagers to work at the store so far.
“It’s bright, colourful and bubbly and the best bit is seeing the excitement on the faces of customers.”
Mr Lee said bubblegum was the most popular flavour so far.
“The combinations people come up with never cease to amaze me,” Mr Carfi said.
