Recycle old cards and gift wrapping

CRANBOURNE residents are encouraged to go green after the festive season and recycle their Christmas cards.
Planet Ark in conjunction with Australia Post, are encouraging people to recycle Christmas cards and materials as part of the Festive Recycling campaign, which replaces the Cards 4 Planet Ark campaign that started in 1994.
The new campaign will build on the positive recycling behaviour change created by Cards 4 Planet Ark, and focus on encouraging people to consider a wider range of materials that people can recycle.
Planet Ark launched its Festive Season Green Guide in December, which includes tips about how to dispose of leftover Christmas food and recycle cards and wrapping paper.
Cranbourne MP Jude Perera encouraged residents to support the Festive Recycling campaign.
“After Christmas there will be food scraps that can be composted as well as wrapping paper, gifts and toy boxes, drink cans and bottles that can all be recycled,” he said.
“We encourage everyone to eat, drink and be merry, but to also be wiser with waste.”
