FOUR boys from a non-mainstream school are on track for a bright future after finishing two years of youth education classes for people aged 16 to 20 at Cranbourne Community House.
Staff presented them with certificates on 9 December. The Certificate II in General Education for Adults earned by the boys is a Year 10 equivalent, which allows the students to pursue TAFE courses or apprenticeships.
Team leader Cherie Hamling said two of the boys had planned to start apprenticeships and another would begin a computer-programming course at TAFE.
“This year we had a group of boys who, for different reasons, have left school early and wanted to continue their education,” she said.
The boys, who are from Cranbourne and Berwick, attended classes from Monday to Wednesday each week.
“The boys have worked extremely hard and also had fun along the way. They are to be congratulated,’’ Ms Hamling said. “The change in these boys during the past two years has been amazing and it is a great achievement.”
