POLICE are urging Casey motorists to fit one-way locking screws on registration plates in a bid to curb the rising plate theft.
Acting Senior Sergeant Terry Lloyd from the Endeavour Hills Police Station said registration plate thefts were the highest reported crime in the City of Casey. He said the stolen plates were being used in petrol drive-off crimes.
“Car retailers such as Autobarn and Bunnings Warehouse sell the anti-theft screws for registration plates,” he said.
Police are urging the community to contact their local police station if they discover their registration plates have been stolen.
