School media skills

BUDDING broadcasters at Courtney Gardens Primary School have something to celebrate with the official opening of the school’s multi-media centre.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne wrote a supporting letter that helped Courtney Gardens Primary School land funding for the media centre.
“The grant to Courtney Gardens Primary School has provided a state-of-the-art learning environment. The new multimedia centre allows students to create and broadcast live video to each classroom and teachers can download tutorial videos to help student learning,” said Mr Byrne.
“The grant recognises the commitment of the Courtney Gardens Primary School community to learning, new technology and high quality facilities for our kids.”
Multi-media teacher Scott Balliet said not only does the centre allow students to create films and broadcast morning shows, but it helps students improve their academic and social skills.
“We make movies about what they are learning in class, whether it be science, math, anything. It definitely helps them learn.” Mr Balliet said
“Students get to work in a team, increase drama skills, and have more responsibility. The media centre has a lot of benefits for inter and intrapersonal skills.”
