RESIDENTS of the coastal communities have identified 13 priority projects as part of a community action plan.
The plan was officially launched at the Pearcedale Farmers’ Market, which was one of the successful outcomes of the action plan called the Coastal Communities Coming Together Community Building Initiative.
City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall and Parliamentary Deputy Secretary for Community Development Lily D’Ambrosio launched the action plan.
“The launch of the action plan reflects two years of consultation with residents of Blind Bight, Cannons Creek, Cranbourne South, Devon Meadows, Pearcedale, Tooradin and Warneet who have enthusiastically given their support to the project,” Cr Halsall said.
“The community building initiative … aims to strengthen small Victorian communities and help them take charge of their future.”
Some of the projects residents have identified include development of the Blind Bight Foreshore, new walking paths and improved drainage at Tooradin.
The steering committee has already worked on some of the projects highlighted in the action plan such as the installation of community noticeboards in Pearcedale and Cranbourne South and the commencement of the Pearcedale Farmers’ Market.
The Department of Planning and Community Development has funded the initiative.
