SOME green thumbs at Tooradin Primary School planted trees, shrubs and grass last week after the school won a national conservation grant.
Students spent last Thursday planting, spreading mulch and creating a new dry creek bed area at the school.
The school won a grant through the Vodafone Green Schools Connect Program and a group of volunteers from Conservation Volunteers Australia helped the students with their planting as part of the prize.
The school’s environment co-ordinator Kristie Young said the students were excited about the new dry creek bed.
“It is an area of exploration, interaction and relaxation for the children,” Ms Young said.
“Each child in the school planted at least one plant with the volunteers, as their lasting contribution to the creek bed and school grounds.
“Their connection to Tooradin Primary School will last, even after the children have left the school.”
