Mystery canoe owner sought

By Glen Atwell
TOORADIN charter operator Lindsay Mitchell has a canoe he wants to return to its rightful owner.
The problem is he has no idea where to find the mystery owner.
Mr Mitchell is the owner of Tidemaster Tours, and believes the top-notch canoe belongs to a man who nearly drowned in the Tooradin channel around this time last year.
The man was rescued by paramedics and transported to hospital, but has never returned to collect his canoe.
Mr Mitchell is hoping someone may know the man involved in the incident.
“About a week after the rescue I was out on a charter and came across this canoe in the water,” he said.
“I took it back to the boat yard and thought that the bloke would come and collect it after he recovered from his ordeal.”
“But he has never shown,” Mr Mitchell said.
Mr Mitchell estimates the canoe is worth $500, and is reluctant to keep the sea treasure if no-one steps forward.
“I’ve tried my best to find this man, but haven’t had any luck. Given the circumstances, I’ll probably take it to the police if no-one comes forward and claims it. I’m not interested in keeping a canoe that was lost by a man who nearly lost his life,” Mr Mitchell said.
Can you help identify the mystery man?
