A CRANBOURNE student has fought her way to winning a silver and bronze medal at a national karate competition held in Perth.
Lyndhurst Secondary College student Stacey Walker represented Victoria at the National Karate Championships back in August.
The Year 12 student was awarded two medals after competing in the team and junior female sections of the fighting divisions.
“I was over the moon with my results,” Stacey said.
Stacey has been perfecting her technique for the past three years and performs a mix of karate moves inspired by wrestling, boxing and self defence.
The budding athlete trains in Cranbourne, Chelsea and Brunswick and is part of the Victorian State team.
She is currently 2nd kyu brown belt.
Stacey said she wanted to pursue a career in karate and aimed to represent Australia at a world tournament in New Zealand in 2010.
“I’d also like to be a police officer or detective in the homicide unit,” she said.
When Stacey’s not participating in the physically demanding sport of karate, she enjoys shopping and spending time with friends.
