AN ENORMOUS pink pig will be in Cranbourne on Saturday 13 September.
The giant piggy bank will visit Thompson Parkway News, Post and Lotto to raise funds and awareness for Very Special Kids as part of the 2008 Piggy Bank Appeal.
Weekend shoppers will have the chance to cuddle the three-metre tall, 700-kilogram piggy bank and drop in a donation between 11am and 1pm.
Volunteers will collect donations and also sell cute piggy merchandise.
Thompson Parkway News was one of the biggest fundraisers for the last year’s Piggy Bank Appeal, raising over $2000.
This year, the organisation hopes the annual Piggy Bank Appeal will raise more than $1 million.
By joining in the fun and showing your support, Very Special Kids can continue providing vital services to Victorian families of children with life-threatening illnesses.
Very Special Kids provides counselling and family support, respite, transition and end-of-life care at Very Special Kids House, allocates trained volunteers to support families, and conducts sibling and bereavement support programs and family camps and activities.
Seven offices operate across Victoria, including our head office in Malvern, where Very Special Kids House is located.
At the start of the Appeal, each of the five piggy banks (Penelope, Percy, Princess, Patrick and George) will set off on a different trail throughout metropolitan and regional Victoria between Friday 12 and Thursday 25 September.
Last year the piggy banks travelled an impressive combined total of 5,016 kilometres.
With trail stops along the way at over 160 locations this year, there are many opportunities to get behind Very Special Kids by giving a donation or purchasing the cool merchandise on offer.
The range this year includes wristbands, lapel pins, fluffy fridge magnets, stress pigs, pig tags, keyrings, lanyards, pens and piggy banks.
