LOCAL coppers will take on Casey’s youth today (Thursday) in a beach volleyball and indoor cricket challenge in Cranbourne.
As part of the City of Casey’s Summer Teenage School Holiday program, police members from Cranbourne, Narre Warren and Endeavour Hills were invited to compete against local youth in the round robin competition.
Cranbourne youth resource officer Senior Constable Brett Owen said the event would be one to remember.
“We have been polishing up on our volleyball and cricket skills and we are certainly looking forward to this friendly challenge,” he said.
“This event will help further strengthen ties between police and local youth and is a great way for young people to spend their school holidays.”
City of Casey manager youth and community development Janette Green said the event was sure to add some excitement to the school holidays.
“This is a great opportunity for young people to test their sports skills in a positive environment. It’s fantastic that our local police officers are such good sports by taking part in Casey’s holiday program,” she said.
The free event was to be held today from midday until 3pm at the Casey Indoor Sports Centre in Cranbourne.
