Police said the 20-year-old man had just left his home at about 5.30pm on Sunday when he failed to make a corner on Broome Crescent.
Police said it was raining at the time and the road was slightly wet.
The driver lost control of the car, which spun 180 degrees, slid sideways, went up over the gutter and onto the nature strip and through a wooden fence.
The car, a black Holden station wagon, overturned onto its side but stopped just short of hitting the house.
The driver then managed to climb out through the driver’s side window, which was just off the ground.
Police said a 56-year-old man, his wife and son were at home in the lounge room – the front room of the house – at the time of the accident.
The family’s fence was flattened, but no one was injured in the crash.
Senior Constable Glenn Dunn from Cranbourne Police Station said the man was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.
