LOCAL Toy Run organisers are calling for donations to make this year’s event the biggest yet.
Volunteers for the Ulysses Club and Peninsula toy runs are gearing up for the fundraising event, which sees motorcycle riders throughout the area deliver toys and food to the needy.
The Ulysses Club run departs Cranbourne for Williamstown, while the Peninsula Run goes from Frankston to Rosebud.
Pearcedale resident and Peninsula Toy Run organiser John Smollen said he spent the entire year collecting funds to purchase the goods to take to the Food For All People charity.
“Last year, with the help of other organisations and the toy run donations, Food For All People was able to pack more than 1000 hampers together with the toys,” he said.
“The goods were then distributed in the week before Christmas.”
The Peninsula Toy Run will leave Frankston Pier at 8.30am on Saturday 3 December and finish at Rosebud Secondary College.
All donations will go to Peninsulabased charities.
Inquires can be made to John Smollen on 5978 6280.
The Ulysses Club Toy Run will depart from the KMart car park in Cranbourne at 10am on Sunday, 11 December and meet up with the MRA Toy Run at the Williamstown Motorcycle Club’s annual event Bikes by the Bay.
