PANCAKE lovers shoved down hundreds of the sweet treats without guilt during Pancake Day at La Kosta Childcare Centre and Kindergarten last week.
The Hampton Park centre’s feeding frenzy was part of Shrove Tuesday activities and raised money for local charity UnitingCare.
Staff and kids came dressed as an item from the kitchen and flipped pancakes, made using donated bottles of pancake mix and maple syrup.
La Kosta owner Snezana Sterjova said the Pancake Day highlighted the number of Australians in need and taught children the values of empathy, community spirit and sharing.
“We wanted to encourage and educate the children and community to share what they have with those less fortunate,” she said.
“Pancake Day raises funds to help UnitingCare support the homeless, abused and vulnerable children, the frail and elderly, families in crisis and people with disabilities.
“Families at the centre donated gold coins, with all money raised from the day staying in the community to help UnitingCare support local people in need.
“It’s all about local people helping local people and uniting as one.”
