A GROUP of seven boys has shown their goodwill for the less fortunate by organising a food drive.
The grade twos from Lynbrook Primary School spent two weeks collecting food at the school before donating it to the Cranbourne Family Support Centre at TurningPoint Family Church last Friday.
Grade two teacher Jody Johnston said it was a good experience for the boys, who learnt a sense of community spirit and how to help those less fortunate. She said two of the boys spoke at a school assembly, informing people of food suitable for collecting, then went around to the classes gathering the items.
Ms Johnston said the seven boys were chosen to be part of a club called Tightropes, formed by a parent, in which they learn how to work in teams, to share, cooperate and communicate. They meet once a week and do different activities.
“They had a fantastic time, and were really responsible. They kept reminding me to go around to the classrooms,” Ms Johnston said.
Sandra Barnet from TurningPoint said the food would be provided to the needy in the community.
She said the 12 boxes of food items donated by the boys were very much appreciated.
