CRANBOURNE shoppers came out in droves to help raise money for cancer research last week.
Cranbourne Centro Shopping Centre took part in a breakfast for the Anti Cancer Council last Thursday, providing tea, coffee and cakes in return for a gold coin donation.
The breakfast-goers were also treated to some music, with Sri Lankan Elvis, Eddie James, belting out some tunes to help them get into the swing of things.
The morning was also a bit of a birthday bash, with the Centro Cranbourne Mall Walkers celebrating their fourth birthday.
The Centro Walkers are made up of people over the age of 50 who circle the three-kilometres inside the shopping centre every Tuesday and Thursday morning.
The walk is a partnership program between Centro and YMCA Cranbourne, and is led by YMCA Cranbourne fitness instructor Michael Casey, who takes the walkers around the mall and leads them in stretching exercises and a warm down.
YMCA Cranbourne centre manager Maurice Rosetti said the breakfast had been a big success, with about 40 people attending.
He also encouraged people to join the Mall Walkers. “We want to promote healthy living for the over 50s,” Mr Rosetti said.
“You can get into your stride and don’t have to worry about the weather.”
