VICTORIAN Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) students through Cranbourne Secondary College and William Angliss TAFE prepared lunch for 140 teachers on Monday.
The event was the next step in the students’ hospitality course and the Cranbourne Secondary College teachers were delighted.
VCAL coordinator Brad Harris said students served a hot and cold buffet for the teachers, who were taking part in a personal development day.
Mr Harris said the students, often suggested for the program by local youth organisations, had been working hard over the past week preparing for the day.
He said the students served two tables of food, one with Italian dishes such as pasta and risotto, and the other with an Indian and Asian theme.
“This sort of thing is great because they learn about different foods and cooking and all the things required to be a chef,” he said.
He said half the students served food and drinks while the other half prepared the food. “It is an important community-based activity.”
