PLANNING is in top gear for the 2006 Motorcycle Riders Association (MRA) Cranbourne GP Run.
Thousands of motorcycle riders are expected to take part in the ride on Saturday, 16 September.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford encouraged locals to get behind what he said had become the largest event on Casey’s events calendar.
“The annual MRA Cranbourne GP Run spectacle provides a fantastic opportunity for local residents, businesses and community groups to get involved and be part of this popular community event,” Cr Bradford said.
Each year the riders line High Street in anticipation of the wave-off before they travel together to the MotoGP at Phillip Island.
“Families and motorcycle enthusiasts unite in this free event, enjoying the activities, displays and entertainment that lines the side streets of Cranbourne,” Cr Bradford said.
“It’s also the time for local community groups and traders to be creative and showcase their services to a wider audience.
“Stalls and shopfronts can be decorated in chequered flags, people could dress up. The options are endless to get involved.”
Community groups wishing to set up a stall can visit www.casey.vic.gov.au/gprun and follow the links to the Stallholder Expression of Interest Form, or contact council’s events unit on 9705 5200 for more information.
