RANGEBANK Primary School cemented its position in the Cranbourne community with the official opening of its new permanent facilities last week.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne, Cranbourne MP Jude Perera and Casey councillor Lorraine Wreford were amongst a host of community representatives present at the launch of the $1.6 million classrooms, music and computer rooms.
Rangebank assistant principal Lorraine Humphrey said that although the facilities had been operational for a year, Friday’s official opening was an opportunity for the school to showcase the improvements to the local community.
“Where we had portable classrooms before, we now have permanent buildings.
“It just takes away the ‘temporary’ feeling of the place and gives us a sense of belonging and a sense of community.
“We can now confidently say we’re here to stay,” she said. Ms Humphrey said the new music and computer rooms were very well utilised, allowing students to get the most out of their lessons.
“These facilities are used constantly.
“We now have one computer to every child, which means they can do some really good computer learning and really benefit.”
Ms Humphrey said the official opening was a great way for the community to come and see the best of the school.
