A BUMPER crowd is expected to cheer their best bets down the home straight and enjoy a slice or two of roast turkey when the Cranbourne Harness Racing Club hosts its popular Christmas in July night meeting on Saturday 12 July.
The exciting eight race program will be headlined by the prestigious Group 1 Victoria Trotters Derby and the final heat of the Eastern Zone 3YO Grand Slam Series.
More than 500 racegoers have already booked their dining packages and those interested in enjoying a hearty Christmas meal in the middle of winter have been encouraged to book soon.
Punters will be kept entertained well into the night, with the club hosting a free disco after the last race for patrons.
More than $1000 of assorted electrical goods, ranging from toasters and kettles to DVD players and portable TVs, will also be given away to lucky punters.
Cranbourne Harness Racing Club chief executive David Scott said the Christmas in July meeting was one of the most popular on the racing calendar.
“With everything on offer, including the after party and the electrical giveaways, we’re hoping to attract another bumper crowd this year,” he said.
“The venue has indoor facilities, ensuring that racegoers will be protected from the weather. Christmas in July is an ideal way to spend a winter’s night at the harness racing.”
Admission to the course is $10 for adults and children under 18 accompanied by an adult will be admitted free. For more information or to book a dining package, call the club on 5996 8677.
