REMEMBRANCE Day at Pearcedale put the event on the Casey books with a spectacular show, including a five-plane flyover.
The service rivalled nearby Cranbourne’s event, with celebrated guests opting for the Pearcedale celebration of the auspicious day.
The third annual Remembrance Day ceremony, held at the Cenotaph at the Pearcedale Public Hall on Saturday, was attended by about 85 people.
The official proceedings included guests from HMAS Cerberus, local politicians, Casey councillors, Cranbourne RSL, Salvation Army, Cranbourne Police, Pearcedale Anglican Church, SES Narre Warren, CFA Pearcedale, students from Pearcedale Primary School, Frankston Naval Memorial Club and Pearcedale Country Women’s Association.
One of the organisers, Maureen Smollen, said the event was “awesome” and must have been the envy of its northern neighbours.
“It was a well organised ceremony, with good community support,” Mrs Smollen said.
“And refreshments in the hall afterwards gave the public time to chat and reflect on this auspicious occasion.”
