CRANBOURNE Community House has marked its 25th anniversary with a new committee of management.
The centre celebrated the quarter-of-a-century milestone at its annual general meeting on Monday, 6 March.
The new appointments were followed by a special morning tea and presentation of certificates to house volunteers.
Adult education manager Cherie Plancke said it was a great achievement to celebrate 25 years in the Cranbourne community.
“Twenty-five years is a long time for a community house, so we are are very proud,” she said.
“Our wonderful staff and volunteers have kept it going. We are growing all the time and are always offering new programs. Hopefully we can go another 25 years.”
Ms Plancke said the CCH was looking forward to the construction of its community workshop at the end of July.
The workshop is a joint partnership with Casey Council and Rotary Club of Cranbourne and will offer a range of free trade courses for men and women.
“It is the first of its kind in the area.
“It will be targeted at men and younger people, offering a variety of household and training courses such as carpentry, woodwork and mechanics.”
Ms Plancke said the land had been cleared and works started earlier in the week.
“They dug the foundations on Tuesday and will lay the slab next week,” she said.
“We can’t wait until it opens mid-year. It will be brilliant.”
