TWO magpies flew into Cranbourne Secondary College last week to deliver a very important message about the dangers of drink driving.
Collingwood footballers Brent Hall and Dane Swan spoke to the year 12 students last week as part of the TAC Players in Schools program.
Head of Senior School Ross Huggard said students first watched the video Muck Up Day, which focuses on the real life tragedy surrounding inexperienced drivers, highspeed cars and alcoholfuelled male bravado on the final day of school for year 12 students at a Frankston School.
He said the AFL players then explored the issues and consequences of drink driving and youth with the students.
“We live in a time when many young people have ready access to both alcohol and highpowered cars, but fail to realise that this can be such a lethal combination, especially when inexperience is added to this already volatile cocktail,” Mr Huggard said.
“We need to help our students to become conscious of the real risks associated with jumping into a car, be it as a driver or a passenger.
“Too much it is at stake, just when they have their life ahead of them.
“Schools need to raise these issues in a deliberate way and the TAC Players in School initiative supports this so well.”
