A PRIZED piece of history once owned by Lord Casey has been returned to the city now named after him.
Former Berwick mayor John Byron handed over the 100-year-old spray cart at a special ceremony at the Old Cheese Factory in Berwick.
The special occasion brought four other former Berwick mayors together, including Cyril Molyneux, Norma McCausland, Syd Pargeter and Bill Hudson.
Current Casey mayor Kevin Bradford formally thanked Mr Byron for the generous donation – that can now be enjoyed by all of Casey’s residents.
“This spray cart, which was used to spray pesticide on crops, once belonged to Lord Casey, a farmer in Berwick who later became a respected politician and a governor-general of Australia,” Cr Bradford said.
“I am grateful to John Byron, who took great care of this remarkable piece of past, for donating the spray cart to the City of Casey.”
Residents wishing to see the antique can do so at the Old Cheese Factory, 34 Homestead Road, Berwick.
