CRANBOURNE has proved its musical talent among its teenage generation.
A group of students at Cranbourne Secondary College have launched their first CD after recording original music over two days at a studio in May.
As part of the Kool Skools program, in which chosen secondary schools are given the chance to record their own CD, 24 Cranbourne students displayed their musical skills at professional recording studio Studio 52 in Collingwood.
They joined the likes of Delta Goodrem, Missy Higgins and the Cat Empire by taking part in the program.
The school’s Performing Arts coordinator Lynn Liu said students from years seven to 12 were involved after writing their own songs for the 11-track CD, which they performed at a recent CD launch.
“They really enjoyed the experience of it all,” Ms Liu said.
“They don’t normally get exposed to work like that in the studio. They didn’t really know that some of the recording programs were so readily available on the Macs, they just don’t get exposed to that side of the industry.
“They got to see a different side of music and how they can get involved in it.”
There will be a lunchtime concert coming up by the senior students and the Kool Skools Awards Ceremony will take place in October.
The CD, called Nothing’s More Expensive Than a Missed Opportunity, will be available from the school later this month.
