Jubby’s beat ends after 29 years

CRANBOURNE police officer Peter Jubb hung up his cuffs last week after almost three decades in the force.
Sergeant Jubb worked his final shift in the blue uniform on Friday, retiring after a memorable 29year career.
The milestone was made more special by daughter and fellow officer Leading Senior Constable Natalie Cale who travelled from her station at Swan Hill to work with her dad on his last day.
Sgt Jubb said he enjoyed a “pretty quiet” last shift as he reflected on his time on the beat.
“I think other members were taking my jobs to give me an easy shift!
“But seriously, I have always loved this job and the people in it and I have never regretted a day being a police officer,” he said.
Divisional Superintendent Chris Ferguson presented Sgt Jubb with a certificate of service and letter of appreciation at the end of his shift.
“It is obvious to me that there is a great fondness for Sgt Jubb here at Cranbourne and we all want to wish him well in his retirement,” Supt Ferguson said.
Leading Sen Const Cale, who worked with her father at Cranbourne earlier in her career, said it was an “absolute privilege” to accompany him on his final shift.
“Even though he is my dad I have to say that he is just a great bloke and terrific to work with,” she said.
Region media officer Amanda Hardy described Sgt Jubb as a gentleman and great friend who would be missed by all of his colleagues.
“Even though I’m sure we will still see him around I know I’ll miss him at work because he is just one of those people who makes you smile when you see that you have been rostered on with him.
“Everyone loves Jubby,” she said.
A formal retirement function has been organised in December to farewell the beloved retiree.
