AGE has never stopped Cranbourne woman Nola Wilson from living life to the fullest.
At 70 years old, Ms Wilson is preparing to represent Australia playing hockey in the Golden Oldies Festival in Holland in September.
Ms Wilson is one of three ladies from Victoria to take part in the games, joining a team of over 35s from New Zealand to lock sticks with competitors from around the globe.
“I competed in the festival in Fiji two years ago and we had a terrific time so I am very excited about this trip,” she said.
Ms Wilson, who has represented Victoria playing hockey in the Master’s Games, said the focus of the Golden Oldies tournament was more about fun and friendship than competition.
“Although we are all over 35s it is still a fullon competition. We are competing with some pretty strong hockey players from around the world. But there is no scoreboard and only personality medals up for grabs.
“There is no prize for first, second or third,” she said.
An avid walker and line dancer, Ms Wilson said she had always kept very active but only started playing hockey about 20 years ago.
“I play hockey on a Monday night in Frankston and I do a lot of walking delivering newspapers. When I come back from the Golden Oldies I will be travelling to Adelaide for the Master’s Games,” she said.
Ms Wilson said she plans to travel through Canada and Scotland with her husband before the seven day tournament from 11 to 18 September.
