Highway stop near complete

Construction of the new Foodworks supermarket, doctor’s surgery, pharmacy and restaurant in Tooradin is expected to be completed in just over a month.Construction of the new Foodworks supermarket, doctor’s surgery, pharmacy and restaurant in Tooradin is expected to be completed in just over a month.

TOORADIN’S biggest development is nearing completion.
Developer Stan Burnett said construction of the new Foodworks supermarket, doctor’s surgery, pharmacy and restaurant on the South Gippsland Highway was well under way and the official opening was scheduled for 1 October.
“The only things left to go in are the windows and then once the rooms are fitted out it will all be ready.
“The builders are right on time and have done a great job,” he said.
Mr Burnett said that although locals were initially hesitant in accepting the development, most had now welcomed Tooradin’s newest additions with open arms.
“Some were a little bit iffy at first but they seem to accept it now.
“Now that they have seen it they realise it is the genuine article and look forward to it more than ever before,” he said.
Balla Balla Ward councillor Colin Butler said he was one local who looked forward to utilising the new services.
“The doctor was out finalising the layout for his rooms on the weekend and the pharmacy has already completed his layout.
“It is all happening pretty quickly and it will be great when it is completed,” he said.
