Grant helps toy library stay on track

– Katarina Mucic
THE Cranbourne and District Toy Library has put its recent grant from the Hunt Club Community fund to good use.
The $1000 grant enabled the charity to purchase wooden toys to replace broken plastic ones.
Volunteer Jacqui Watts said community grants had to date ensured the existence of the library.
“Member fees really only cover running costs, so the grants are what actually buy the toys,” she said.
The toy library, a volunteer-run group, has used grants from community groups and councils to purchase puzzles, multicultural dolls and a wooden balancing beam play set.
A family membership costs $45 and entitles the family to borrow six toys per fortnight.
The library is in the administration building of the Cranbourne Library Complex and is open every first and third week of every month on Tuesday nights between 7pm and 8pm and Saturday from 10am to 11am.
