SIX-year-old Erica An-dronis is one real bookworm.
The prep student at St Kevin’s Primary School in Hampton Park read over 100 books during the recent Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge.
The avid reader well and truly exceeded the 30-book challenge set for prep level children and found herself borrowing up to 20 books a month from her local library.
Helping along the way was Erica’s mother, Rosie Andronis, who guided and helped her daughter throughout the challenge.
“Erica chose most of the books, which included some that she could read on her own and some that I read to her and we then talked about together,” Ms Andronis said.
A lasting memory of the impressive effort will be a photo log-book that the Andronises compiled and submitted as part of the challenge.
“This included the details of the title and author of all the books we read,” she said.
Erica is set to meet next year’s challenge head-on and exceed her total number of books in 2007.
