MICHAEL Shepherdson is the new president of the Lions Club of Cranbourne.
Mr Shepherdson was inaugurated in front of more than 50 members, partners and guests from Cranbourne RSL, Merinda Park Learning and Community Centre, Red Cross, CWA, Cranbourne Senior Citizens, Cranbourne Lions Band and choir at the club’s changeover meeting held at Blue Hills earlier this month.
Outgoing president Mick Evans reflected on the past 12 months and highlighted the achievements of the Cranbourne Lions during this time.
He said projects included Lions’ involvement with the City of Casey’s Youth Week, the annual Senior Citizens Christmas concert, the Cranbourne GP Motorcycle run, the Driver Reviver program.
Mr Shepherdson has lived in Cranbourne with his family for more than 20 years and became a member of the Lions Club of Cranbourne about five years ago.
“As the Lions Club of Cranbourne enters its 35th year of service in the Cranbourne district, I am proud to be part of such a respected and hard working group of dedicated people,” he said.
He said the Lions Club of Cranbourne had been instrumental in a number of projects over the years including three Lions parks in Cranbourne, Sunday markets, supporting and sponsoring many youth and senior citizens events and assisting those who need help.
“My intentions for the Cranbourne Lions are to further develop working partnerships with other service groups as well as to continue the traditional work that Lions have performed over the years,” Mr Shepherdson said.
He said the Lions Club of Cranbourne would like to invite all men and women over the age of 18 who are interested in their community to attend a Lions Club meeting.
The club meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Cranbourne Senior Citizens Clubrooms.
