TOUCHDOWN!
A group of dancing students from Courtenay Gardens Primary School are the new Lyndhurst Cluster school idols.
The seven grade six Cranbourne students proved themselves ahead of the rest when they took out the trophy in front of the finalists from the other cluster schools.
Groups from Strathaird Primary School, Narre Warren South P-12 College, Lynbrook Primary School, Lyndhurst Secondary College and Rangebank Primary School also competed in the idol competition.
Tamara Thompson, Holly Nicholls, Courtney Reddy, Theresa Mele, Shari Hunt, Bianca McMahon and Casey Haire, otherwise known as the Little Devilz, performed an original dance piece to SOS by Rihanna.
They had to first win their school idol, in which they won gift vouchers, before competing for their school in the cluster final in a series of mini concerts at each school.
Grade five-six teacher David Hess said the girls had put in the hard yards, choreographing the dance themselves and practising long hours.
“They were rapt, they were very pleased,” he said.
He said all the performers deserved congratulations for their performances throughout the competition, which ranged from singers, comedians, magicians, gymnastics and even a cooking show.
