A LYNBROOK couple changed their luck just a day before they were married.
Brett Deal and his fiancee were overjoyed when they won a television set for visiting a new Brumby’s shop just a few days after their old television broke – and in the same week as their wedding.
Philip Dorn, owner of the newly opened Lynbrook Brumby’s Bakery, said the couple could not believe their luck when they had found out they had won.
“Their TV broke on the Monday and they were getting married on Easter Thursday,” Mr Dorn said.
“The had enough stress with the wedding coming up and then for their TV to break. So we organised to get them in on the Wednesday to tell them they had won.”
He said the prize could not have gone to a more deserving couple.
“They’re on their honeymoon now,” he said.
The competition was held in the bakery’s first two weeks at the new Lynbrook Village Shopping Centre.
Mr Dorn said it had already established a loyal customer base and locals were over the moon at finally having a shopping centre.
He said they had also drawn customers from Hampton Park Shopping Centre, people who were worried about their safety.
The News has reported numerous incidents of crime and complaints about gangs and violence at the centre recently, with the centre having to increase its security and Cranbourne police boosting its patrols.
“I hope they can sort things out at Hampton Park,” Mr Dorn said.
