Residents can now enjoy a free sausage in bread while mingling with neighbours thanks to the launch of the new Casey Neighbourhood BBQ Program.
Casey youth and community development manager Janette Green said the program was a simple and informal way of developing connections and friendships in the neighbourhood.
She said residents were invited to nominate their street for a barbecue by completing and returning an application form to the City of Casey Community Development team by 5 September.
Council will select eight locations throughout the city during the warmer months and supply a barbecue trailer, supplies and an officer to assist in the activity, Ms Green said.
“This program is aimed at bringing a neighbourhood together in a relaxed and fun activity that promotes greater connection and communication between residents in the community.
“Activities can allow for greater conversation, trust and friendship to be generated in the neighbourhood,” she said.
Application forms are available by contacting the City of Casey on 9705 5200 or via the internet at www.casey.vic.gov.au
