OAKGROVE Community Centre hosted a meetandgreet session with residents recently.
Organised as part of Casey’s People in Places program, the day provided Narre Warren South residents with an opportunity to meet and gather information on the various activities and programs available at the centre.
City of Casey manager of youth and community development Janette Green said a range of displays, demonstrations and information was available and residents were able to meet the centre’s staff and committee of management members.
“People in Places activities are a great opportunity for local residents to get to know each other and form the foundations of a strong community.
“Organising a get together with neighbours can often be difficult, so People in Places activities aim to enable members of a community to enjoy some conversation over a coffee whilst learning about the range of services available at the community centre,” she said.
The kids’ playgroup is one of the popular activities offered at the centre, providing mums and dads with the opportunity to spend time with their children while socialising with other parents.
Parents participate in the various games and activities, helping to foster stronger relationships.
