CRANBOURNE Christian College has ridden its way to victory in the annual Tintern Victorian Interschool Horse Trials Championship.
The school’s equestrian team saddled up against 75 other Victorian schools to take the title in their first horse trials competition.
Tiffany Chapman, Brooke Howarth, Samantha Chapman and Amber Cargill, who range from eight to 13 years of age, competed against 350 other students in the prestigious competition.
Team manager Sally Chapman said despite the wet conditions, the girls had done really well, with the final score resting on the youngest, Samantha.
“It was a really good team effort and they showed great sportsmanship,” Ms Chapman said.
“They put so much work in.
“The school has been incredibly supportive as well.”
Ms Chapman said the competition came down to three teams in the end and the girls were very relieved once the pressure was taken off.
“They were absolutely elated. It was pitch black by the time we loaded the horses but they didn’t care. They were so excited,” she said.
